Cell is an active machine that performs a variety of complex biological functions. We dissect physical basis of cellular organization and behaviors emerging from collective interactions of biomolecules. We develop both molecular and optical technologies to tackle challenges at the interface of engineering, physics and biology. Ultimately, we seek to engineer living cells to help advance the development of novel therapeutics.
